Bad skills are bad
It’s been about a year now since I first remember hearing about the upcoming changes to the talent trees, and what stuck out the most in my head was the general vibe I got that they aimed to take out all the “must” have skills (adds 5% to healing type stuff) and leave us with some really fun options to customize our character.
Well… That’s just not the case. See for yourself! [view tree]
I know this is just preliminary but already I have so much I just don’t like. I mean, to get down to the second level of the resto tree I have to WASTE three clicks, which is a lot when you consider we have even fewer clicks now. And yes, they are wasted…. don’t argue, they are.
And a lot of the talent trees (ours included) still have those “increase spellpower” must-have clicks on them.
Please, try again, I’m not happy.
Plus, there are so few choices you almost can’t screw up. I mean… really… let’s just take it to the next level… here is my proposal for even more idiot proof talent trees in cataclysm:
So… anyway I haven’t been posting much lately… last week was the first week since April (OMG guild drama) that we’ve actually gotten into ICC 10 and focused on H-LK. Got to phase three in our first week!! I’m psyched. Anyway… focusing on that, once that’s down what will I do?!? Probably spam my blog everyday
P.S. WTB Beta invite!
Anyone able to help with that? If so, drop me a line

They did say that druid trees are in the list of those not even close to completion so it certainly is a little bit early to be passing judgement. The good ol’ beta caveat.
Although I always do approve of suggestions :3
they did say that druid is far from ready yes but… if they are taking what we see today as a basic build to begin with than i’m a bit worried…
time will tell but, I would love to see Gift of the Earthmother return and stuff like cooldown and casttime reductions
Druids are basically not functional in any spec on the beta server right now, with huge lists of bugs and broken-ness. Waiting for a functional beta build is hard.
Oh Angela! **sob**
What have they done to my precious Tree!!??
Over 3 years I’ve played this game. I rolled my Druid and never looked back. I loved her, I made her a feral tank and dps in Burning Crusade, what Wrath came along once and I was level 80 I tried being Balance for a while and then I went Resto. I never regeretted it and I felt I’d finally found what I was ment to be doing all along. I loved her so much I made a clone. So now I have two Resto druids ( oh us strange people with two resto druids…. )
But looking at these talents what am I going to do Angela? If I want to make use of The Tree of Life 5 minute cooldown ( utterly ridiculous to even make it a cooldown ), I have to suffer a 50% movement penalty – brings back terrible memories of TBC nonsence. I mean how many fights in ICC can you picture us being able to even begin to consider acceptable to restrict out movement? Lord knows what kinds of raids or instances we’ll have in Cataclysm but I doubt we’ll have the luxury of being able to consider nerfing our running speed to obtain 15% increased healing. And don’t get me started on the rest of the Resto talents /facepalm
Maybe I’m over reacting. I sure hope I am. At the moment I feel like I’m sitting here waiting for the day my Druids are effectively dead.
Last night when I was raiding I was telling my guild ” I best make the most of this because in Cata I won’t be a Tree anymore, no more imba healing Maria… it’ll be more like crap healing Maria”. And you know what? it almost made me feel like crying.
/hugs

That comic pic just about sums up the state of the tree. I mean they don’t want resto druids in form all the time to show off armor models. Never mind boomkins will always be in chicken form. Kitty will always be in a cat form. Tanks will always be in bear. Just resto will never always be in a form.
Go figure. Stop the deforestation.
But yeah the talent tree is pretty sad over all in its current state. Have to click on a lot of pretty lame stuff though the first 2 tiers to finally get to the more useful items. Awesome reduced spell damage to me and the option between a talent for feral and moonkins and reduced threat.
All of our mana regen (intensity/living spirit) skills are gone. Tree form is gone I don’t know how the reduced mana cost while casting in tree have been affected.
What scares me the most is Resto druids are hot casters, meaning they heal pre-damage. If I have poor regen and I am forced to cast hots when damage happens my heals will either be overwritten or won’t even register be cause the damage has been healed before my hot could tick.
I am gonna take the wait and see approach. They changed up healing evey Expac and i’ve always been great at healing on my druid.
I just hope that these changes don’t force me into mediocrity.
P.S. If Druids are not competitive heals it will be GO GO shaman. I got My alt to 80 while waiting on a character restore:)
I didnt think druid would be anywhere near ready by now!
I personally am looking forward to the tree of life change. Will actually let me use my Muradin’s Snowflake and Orb of the Sindori (sp?) in raid. So fun to run around as a dwarf or belf.
wauw there have been alot of changes to the beta tree since I saw it last.
I am getting unsure now but as far as I recall the first published ideas to the talent trees were still 11 tier and oh my there was alot of waster tallents needed.
This looks a bit better, though I need to get use to the shorter version of the tree.
You are idd right Angela, they more or less removed any option to customize your talents. As far as I can see the only choice blizzard gives is weather to put 1 or 2 talent points in Empowered Touch.
However I am unsure why you feel you waste 3 talentpoints in the first tier? I am asuming you mean the 3 points in Natural Shapeshifter. I dont think those is a waste though since Tree of Life will be a spell we have to cast in combat it is rather important that the spell isn’t too mana consuming. That said it isn’t a very fun talent to spend the few points on we have now.
I really really really hope they will reconsider the changes to Tree of Life and let it stay as it is now. I Love being a tree! it is no fun just looking like everyone else in the raid. And if a druid at anytime want to flash their armor they might aswell do it in one of the major cities where there might be ppl to admire it. In raids noone takes time to looks at the grafic of the gear. I really dont understand why bliz wants to change it.
Not to mention that Wild Growth costs 55% of our base mana. FIFTY FIVE PERCENT! I feel like I’m wasting a talent in WG just to get down to Tree of Life. Also, the talent for Tree of Life does not say that it uses mana to cast, rendering the natural shapeshifter talent useless. I also liked the comment on movement speed reduction. I remember a blue post of them saying that movement was going to be important in Cataclysm. Could you imagine doing Sindragosa with a movement speed reduction?
Oh yea, i’ve tried healing in beta with resto and it’s not pretty, they really do have some fixing to do. Enspecially when one of our main spells, ToL, has been bugged forever and doesn’t do anything.
Yer talent tree link be broken yo, need to update it to the most recent ^ ^
two things come out of this.
1. pretty much anyone with half a brain can spec resto correctly. no more fun options to play around with are spec, less theory crafting, and just less interesting all around.
2. there will be less trees. this is actually a good thing as i could say right now 35-40% of the healers i see on my server are trees. the more people see how useless trees are the more of them will go bear, cat, or boom. we have all witnessed blizzards nerf/OP bat to the face at one time or another. i wouldn’t be to concerned about how this plays out come later patches they will fix us since blizzard seems intent on dumbing down the game for every player of every spec.
